Degree Requirements

Registered Nursing

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must have completed the following course:

  • CHEM 135* with a grade of “B” or better.

Applicants must be eligible to enroll in the following courses based on prerequisites and/or placement criteria:

  • BIOS 204

  • ENGL 101

  • MATH 150

Applicants must meet the GPA requirement associated with their current enrollment category:

  • Students who have completed any number of college credits

    • A cumulative college GPA of 3.0 or higher in both science and non-science program-specific courses.

  • High school students without college credits

    • A cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Applicants must achieve a score at the “Proficient” level on ATI TEAS with all subsections at or above the national average. The score must be dated within the past two years to be considered valid.

*  An equivalent course from another college may satisfy this requirement.

Important Note

RN is a competitive admission program. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. Applicants who are denied admission will be placed in the Health Sciences program of study to complete general education courses applicable to the RN degree, allowing them to reapply.

Coursework Considered in Admissions Review

While not required, applicants who have completed one or more of the program-specific general education courses prior to applying may have those grades included in the admissions review. A minimum grade of C is required for any of these courses to be considered. Courses may also be reviewed with attention to whether they were completed successfully on the first attempt.

Advanced Placement Program for LPN

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must have completed the following courses:

  • CHEM 135* with a grade of “B” or better.

  • All general education courses required in the first two semesters of the RN program with grades of C or better.

  • Have credit for NURS 101 – Introduction to Nursing in one of two ways:

    • If a graduate of the NCC LPN program, NURS 101 with grade of C or better

    • If not a graduate of the NCC LPN program, achieving a minimum of Level II on the ATI Fundamentals Assessment.

Additional requirements:

  • A cumulative college GPA of 3.0 or higher in both science and non-science program- specific courses.

  • Applicants must achieve a score at the “Proficient” level on ATI TEAS with all subsections at or above the national average. The score must be dated within the past two years to be considered valid.

  • Applicants must hold a current and valid LPN license.
