Overview

The Proficiency in English as a Second Language Specialized Diploma is intended to provide students who speak a native language other than English the necessary language competency to succeed in typical college and career settings. It enhances students employability and bolsters their career opportunities by providing students the requisite English skills to succeed in an increasingly English-dominant world.
The required classes for the specialized diploma program are the terminal courses for each skill area. Students testing at levels below the listed courses will be required to complete all necessary lower-level classes successfully The program can be completed in the day or evening, on a full-time or part-time basis.

In order to earn the Proficiency in English as a Second Language Specialized Diploma, students must pass the following courses with a B- (80%) or better:

ESLL 131 ESL Writing IV 3 credits
ESLL 133 ESL Reading IV 3 credits
ESLL 137 ESL Speaking IV 3 credits
ESLL 138 ESL Vocabulary IV 3 credits

Total Number of credits: 12 credits
