1. Identify and describe the operation and application of commonly used types of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC/R) systems.
2. Demonstrate working knowledge and use technical vocabulary when interpreting control schematics and equipment diagrams.
3. Demonstrate the proper use of common technician tools, meters, and measuring gauges used in HVAC/R construction and troubleshooting.
4. Describe the principles and functions of the mechanical, electrical, and fluid power components used in HVAC/R and related systems.
5. Formulate and plan airflow, refrigeration, and motor control projects that adhere to industry standards.
6. Demonstrate adherence to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety standards in the general construction industry.
7. Interpret and apply Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulatory laws applicable to refrigerant handling and other environmentally hazardous materials.
8. Analyze and present data with proficient research and computer data-gathering skills.
