Entrepreneurship and Innovation

Description

This interdisciplinary course explores the core components of entrepreneurship and innovation, from an introduction to "mindsets" through self-analysis of entrepreneurship readiness and the role of entrepreneurs in economic development. Topics include the processes with which to bring innovation to market with an emphasis on opportunity recognition, experimentation, adaptation, and problem-solving; business model validation; and strategic management of new ventures. Students shape their ideas into innovative solutions through "design thinking" projects while learning interviewing, brainstorming, prototyping and iteration. Students will be introduced to the protocols of innovation including securing funding, intellectual property protection, organizational structure, budgeting, and cash flow.
