Adolescent Development & Cognition

Description

This course emphasizes the adolescent as a student and a learner in today’s inclusive classroom. Content includes an overview of the major concepts, principles, theories, and research related to adolescent cognitive, social, sexual, emotional, and moral development. Attention to cultural competence, teaching diverse students and issues of equity are included. Strategies for teaching English Language Learners (ELL) comprise 15 hours of course content. Field experiences outside of class are required. Per Pennsylvania Department of Education requirements, students must have current clearance paperwork on file with department.
